Industry Innovators - Enviro Express Inc.
Enviro Express Inc., a Bridgeport-based firm, provides waste collection, transfer and recycling services for area municipalities and offers services in planning and building natural gas refueling stations. The company bought 18 T800 Kenworth tractors, powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) in 2010, replacing most of its diesel fleet. Kenworth was the first truck manufacturer to offer an LNG fuel system as a Class 8 factory-installed option, and has a 15-liter, 450-hp Westport GX engine. Enviro Express’ refueling station, constructed and installed by Air & Gas Technologies, is the first of its kind east of the Mississippi when built in 2010. The facility also has equipment that captures and stores natural gas that evaporates from LNG transfer during storage, turning the captured gases into compressed natural gas (CNG). The station, open to the public, allows other companies, government and transit agencies to deploy their CNG and LNG vehicles.
