Companies that are putting US Transportation on the Path to Sustainability

This new Energy Vision database will be identifying companies whose innovative products and services are making possible the first major steps forward in this country’s transition from oil-dependence to the clean renewable fuels needed for a sustainable transportation future.

We are beginning with those companies whose products and services are making possible the transition of the 10 million medium and heavy duty buses and trucks in the US from their reliance on oil-derived diesel fuel.

Bus and truck fleets can transition today to use of petroleum-free, domestic and plentiful natural gas and to a renewable form of natural gas that is made, not by drilling, but by processing gases generated wherever organic wastes are breaking down. It is called Renewable Natural Gas, “RNG,” or “biomethane.”

Buses and trucks make up just 4% of all vehicles on US roads, but they consume 23% of all on-road fuel (13% of total US petroleum consumption). As a result, a fuel shift in this sector promises an enormous impact:  slashing US oil dependence, bringing energy jobs home, reducing air pollution and cutting greenhouse gases.

Within the heavy duty vehicle sector, we begin with companies that provide products and services for natural gas refuse trucks. EV will add new sectors, produce delivery trucks and school and transit buses as we go forward. Please share with us your experience with these companies.

The companies are listed alphabetically in this database and they include: natural gas engine manufacturers, natural gas truck providers, component manufacturers, refueling infrastructure providers, planning and engineering firms, companies with the technologies for producing renewable natural gas, and companies with landfills from which they are producing RNG for use in their own or others’ trucks.
