Waste Management puts its 1000th natural gas refuse truck on the road

The country’s largest waste hauler achieved a milestone this July, putting its 1000th natural gas refuse truck onto US roads - in Long Beach, CA. Waste Management operates 22,000 garbage collection and recycling trucks a day nationwide -- 720 in Southern California. Its newest trucks in California are running on the renewable form of natural gas, called “RNG” or “trash-gas,” that requires no drilling since it is produced by collecting and refining the methane gases created in the company’s Altamont Landfill.
