"There's only one Vermont" and its getting on board with natural gas vehicles!

On May 13th, Casella Waste Systems, a major solid waste management company operating in New York and the Northeast, had a ribbon cutting for its first natural gas refueling station. This station, located in Williston, VT, is fueling Casella's first three CNG refuse trucks (the first natural gas refuse trucks in the State.) Three more new trucks will arrive by summer.

The 51,000 gallons of diesel displaced by the six trucks will produce savings of $63,750 in fuel costs a year.

Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin, congratulated Casella on "becoming an early adopter of cleaner fleet vehicles..and on " making an enormous impact by choosing natural gas." He called it.."an excellent step that I hope other businesses will examine closely as they build or replace their fleet vehicles." Other speakers included: Casella Waste's CEO John Casella, CEO of Vermont Gas Systems, A. Donald Gilbert, Jr., and Energy Vision President, Joanna Underwood. (Read Joanna's remarks.)
